America is moving more towards cultural assimilation and they are bringing the world with them. Some may believe that the loss of culture may bring more unity. I can understand that point. If everyone had a cell phone, laptop, face book account, watched TV, ate modify processed foods, bought all the name brand clothes, drove the same cars, and never went outside we would all be united. We would be united under one mass produced capitalists culture. If you go to my home town Gilroy right here in the Bay Area, it has all ready happened. All the small business have been crushed, and the huge corporations flourish. At nine p.m. on a Friday no one is walking the streets or even riding a bicycle, everyone is indoors watching TV or on the internet. The one spot where they would hold some dance for teenagers and young adults has been shut down, because it deemed unsafe or something of that nature. Even though no one has been sent to the hospital or died dancing there. If for some reason you feel this is an exaggeration, I insist you go see it for your self. Within the next ten to twenty years most all suburbs, towns and cities in America will be just like this. It is easier to be told what do and how to think instead of taking Culture will only exist in small hidden hubs and occasion ill come out into the open. But you will have to pay a price to partake in it. Orwell was right; he just got the date wrong.
